If you want to know how I raised money to produce and promote my books, buy the books I wrote that tell you how you can do it yourself. If you're not willing to invest in your own education, you aren't worthy of receiving an investment from anyone.

The consulting services provided on my web sites are my livelihood. This is a business. The purpose of a business is to make a profit. This is not a charitable organization. I am not related to you, I am not your Fairy Godmother, I have not taken an oath of poverty, and chances are we aren't friends. (Real friends wouldn't expect free work from someone who is struggling financially.)

When people - friends or strangers - ask me to work without payment it tells me either they think what I offer has no value or that I'm being expected to subsidize their career. If your family and bank won't lend you money to invest in your career why would I, a complete stranger? And please don't ask me to accept a percentage of your current income as payment. Think about it: If you can't afford to hire me on your income, how would I be able to live on a fraction of your income? Sheesh.

When I receive requests like these, I avoid all future contact with them and that works against their best interests. In the past I tried to be nice and offer some very affordable ways I could be hired or how-to books I wrote that will teach them what to do, but that always resulted in no response or a lot of anger directed at me. I finally gave up trying to offer solutions that didn't meet their unrealistic expectations.

What you may not know is that I was the target of a series of crimes, and lost nearly everything just trying to stay alive, so I'm starting at the bottom financially when all my friends have retired, to recapture 3 decades worth of income. I'm living hand-to-mouth, and in no position to support anyone else, and certainly not strangers.

If you choose to ask me to work for free anyway, I probably won't answer you. I don't want to be rude, but if you're rude enough to disrespect the value of my work, I'll ignore you.
