I promote kindness in business. This is my philosophy:
Are you a godmother, a ghost or a gremlin?
Godmothers want the best for you and if they had a magic wand (the means) they would make all your wishes come true.
Ghosts are nebulous, barely present, and not harming nor benefiting.
Gremlins are little ugly trolls or goblins who poke, jab, trick you to create havoc in your life to cause deliberate misery.
For 30 years I have consulted to and promoted ambitious, risk-taking consultants, specialists and practitioners. Sadly, what I have seen over the past two decades is a great deal of self-absorption and, in the ruthless drive to succeed, a disregard and disrespect for the people they do business with.... service providers, suppliers or customers/patients/clients. I have seen this in my dealings with professionals and practitioners, both from the perspective of a patient, client, or customer myself; and as a provider of marketing and promotion services to authors, speakers, experts, and consultants.
As a proponent of *The Golden Rule, I am so disappointed by behavior I've observed that I have closed my personal public relations practice. For the same reason I also closed my speaker directory, CommissionFreeSpeakers.com, which provided marketing support services for speakers.
I do have godmothers in my life and many, many ghosts, but the gremlins are prevalent, too. It's my desire, through speaking and writing, to turn gremlins into ghosts and ghosts into godmothers.
* Treat others the way you want to be treated.
