How
to Brainstorm
(I wrote this for people entering my home giveaway essay
contest with their 10 reasons.)
Please don't feel you need to write a lengthy essay to
enter and win - after all, who enjoys writing essays?
Make it simple: think of it as a 10 item
grocery shopping list; or better yet, think of it as
a David letterman Top Ten
List. I'll bet you've
watched David Letterman at least once.
Just take a blank piece of paper or a
blank email message and sit down alone when you can think
without being interrupted for ten minutes. Write numbers 1
through 10 down the side of the page and start imagining
how your life would change if you were living in the home
you could win. Write down your ten ways your life would be
changed or improved. Use your imagination.
Or you could assemble your family and all
of you could "brainstorm" ten ways your family would
benefit from winning this home. Encourage everyone to
participate. One rule for this brainstorm session:
nobody is
permitted to shoot down anyone else's
idea. Instead, if an
idea seems far-fetched, find a part of that idea that does
make sense. That way nobody feels rejection.
And if you know a family that would
benefit from this home more than you why not enter this
contest on their behalf? For a little creative thinking you
could give a very generous gift to someone who needs a
lifestyle change.
